International Musical Interlude

Some of my facebook friends who actually click on the videos have probably seen a few of these clips where some of the world’s most famous hits are sung by a folk ensemble.

Buranovskie Babushki (Grannies from Buranovo) who competed in this year’s Eurovision sing the song Venus in Udmurt language. The word “babushki” means grandmas or old women.

Buranovskie Babushki with Yesterday by the Beatles in Udmurt language.

Smoke on the Water by Buranovskie Babushki.

Nice clip combining old and new, in Tatar language.

These ladies are from Mari El.

No Woman No Cry performed by the Japanese folk group Nēnēs. There is something magical in the way they pronounce the word “woman”.
