Peta is out with the new campaign to rename fish into “sea kittens” with a slogan “nobody wants to eat a sea kitten“. It’s like a “chicken of the sea” in reverse. Very clever, but can anyone really think of a fish as a kitten – a slimy, ugly, smelly kitten? Do names matter to us when we eat things? If we rename raccoon a “chicken of the ditch” would it become a lot more palatable?
I may not want to eat a sea kitten, but I sure would like me some fish.
And now I have to go pet my cat land-fishy.
