Local antiquing maven and dealer Susan let me scan some of these random old photos before she puts them up for sale. Susan’s antiques can be found on Etsy, her Twitter, Facebook and blog, as well as at the River Market Antique Mall booth 622, but she highly recommends visiting the other 621 booths as well.

Old Photos: Sobriety Test
Continuing with the alcohol theme, here are some photos depicting a sobriety test experiment performed in Kansas City in 1941. The cops slowly liquor up a test subject and then perform sobriety tests on him using a precision “drunkometer”.

Some photos made in the USSR when the Iron Curtain still existed periodically circulate around the Internet. This set is a pretty good compilation without confusing Russian text. Some people react with nostalgia, others with hate. It was a controversial time and as it moves further into the past people tend to forget the bad and only remember it to be simple, happy and care-free. It wasn’t, but it’s nice to think otherwise. The Home Of Just Plain Folks
Apparently Just Plain Folks make their home in Williamsburg, KS.
Them are the folks who know who is to blame for the 9/11.
Other than the classified information the folks possess a building built in the year 188…
…a combination Tavern/City Hall…
…a weapon of mass destruction…
…a city park…
… a nondescript building…
…a front-yard antique car display…
…a dilapidated elevator…
…and possibly a cafe…
…adorned with rim-art.
Next to Williamsburg is a so-called ghost town of Silkville, KS,
of which I was able to locate this building,
next to a huge stump of possibly a Russian Mulberry tree used to grow silk-worms.
If you are one of them plain folks, there is some room for you in Williamsburg.
Move in and start donating your junk for the playground construction.

Development of my art skills stopped in the second grade when a teacher couldn’t recognize a watermelon in my drawing. However, I would have definitely applied more effort if I knew that a career in art allows for unlimited hours alone with nude women, who will not complain if their features will not look so flattering on the painting. It’s art, you know.
