How To DJ An Entire Wedding With One Elvis CD

Once in a while I think that if there existed a (crazy) girl who wanted to date me, her attraction will last only as long as it takes for her to find this here blog, and how can I fault her for that. Sometimes even I am surprised to read the things I typed here strangely not under the influence of any illegal substances. So I decided to drastically increase the level of intelligence of my writing in order to at least temporarily distract said (crazy) girl.

To start, I am submitting this tutorial for a wedding DJ on how to cover an entire wedding using just Elvis Presley songs. This tutorial will show off:

  1. My intelligence (I am writing a  tutorial here!);
  2. My encyclopedic knowledge of Elvis Presley catalog;
  3. My awesome taste in music;
  4. My general tolerance of weddings;
  5. My willingness to share stuff for free;

How To DJ An Entire Wedding With One Elvis CD

If you are a Wedding DJ, you probably have to constantly fend off idiotic music requests from the newlyweds, their parents and bridesmaids/groomsmen. Everyone wants to be original, or, worse yet, to play their  song. I can imagine your disgust having to queue in some obscure song and then watch people convulsing on the dance floor.

Well, Dear Friend, you don’t have to suffer any longer. With the help from this tutorial and with little resolve, you will never again have to hear these horrible musical creations and, more importantly, subject other people to the torture by sound. Armed with just a set of 63 Elvis Presley’s songs you can finally DJ a perfect wedding.

*note: the following suggestions are based strictly on the song names, I only understand about 40% of lyrics

Use the following tips:

Good songs to play before the party starts, while the guests are gathering around and taking their seats:

  • A Fool Such As I
  • I Got Stung
  • Can’t Help Falling in Love
  • Wear My Ring Around Your Neck
  • In The Chapel (also maybe used for Bride and Groom Dance)
  • *special case – religion – Amazing Grace

Bride and Groom dance:

  • I Want You, I Need You, I Love You
  • It’s Now or Never
  • Love Me
  • Love Me Tender
  • You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me
  • The Wonder of You
  • *special case 1 – tumultuous relationship – Always On My Mind
  • *special case 2 – her name is Marie – His Latest Flame (Marie’s the Name)
  • *special case 3 – if the Groom grew up poor/in trouble with the law – In The Ghetto

If anyone’s loser brother is there:

  • Jailhouse Rock
  • I Am A Roustabout

For the sister:

  • Little Sister
  • Trouble (also may be used for brother)

If any Ex’s are in the audience:

  • Are You Lonesome Tonight
  • Suspicious Minds
  • Heartbreak Hotel
  • Hound Dog
  • I Forgot to Remember to Forget
  • I Feel So Bad
  • Memories
  • She Is Not You
  • Wooden Heart (also works if anyone speaks German)

Father-Bride Dance:

  • Don’t Cry Daddy (watch him tear up when Elvis sings about the “Brand New Mommy”, especially if the Mommy is not dead)

Mother-Groom Dance:

  • Hard Headed Woman
  • Devil in Disguise
  • Mean Woman Blues

If anyone from the South is in the party:

  • An American Trilogy

If there were child-support issues:

  • Return To Sender

When the newlyweds are retiring for their first night together:

  • One Night
  • Promised Land
  • Way Down
  • I Need Your Love Tonight
  • Don’t Be Cruel
  • Surrender
  • Teddy Bear
  • A Big Hunk O’Love

That’s it. After the obligatory parts of the wedding and mandated dances are done, turn on the shuffle and take a well-deserved break.

This method guarantees loads of referrals, word of mouth and repeat business.
