Pothole: In Memoriam

Only five months after first being reported on this blog the famous Kansas City pothole is no longer with us.

Over its short but storied life this pothole brought joy and adventure to children, small animals and many drivers, as well as plenty of material for no less than 5 posts on this blog.

Let’s take a look at the pothole’s tragic journey.

Here it is still young and full of hope:

With a piece of flare:

Still playful:

Even then it tried to be entertaining:

Although it’s now gone, it will always be remembered by the weirdly-shaped patch the City workers created to cover it.

Please stand to observe a moment of silence.

  • There are a million stories in the naked city… this one had depth. The circle of life writ large.

  • It will be missed but we can take comfort in the knowledge that it has thousands of brothers in the city just as old and just as storied.

Nice patch job. When I see steel plates, I shed a tear.

  • May the pothole rest in peace.

  • I Travel for JOOLS

And the steel plate moves on to another location .. never resting in its quest to finally return to its home in China.

  • is it really your beloved Kansas city? looks like one of Russian suburbian towns…in a good way of course:)
