Wrong time to go

Long lost and recently found classmate sent me her New Years wishes:
Happy New Year to you and your family. Mine started off crappy – my Mom died on 12/31.
I was thinking about this on my way from St.Louis. When your parent dies it’s never a good day, but when your parent dies on a holiday, that holiday dies for you with the deceased. I am not sure if my classmate will ever be able to enjoy New Year’s Holiday as much and that’s not fair.
So here is to not screwing up our kids’ lives more than we already do.

    Dates have such deep significance in our lives that at times I feel people hang on just to make it to them… not sure if this was the case here but I have heard of it happening before.

    Back in August just before I went home (Canada) my brother in law’s mom was given 6 months to live. We realy didn’t think she would last through to Christmas. But she has hung on. I think (from what I hear) that she will be giving up soon. Very sad.
